Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The Lock Haven University Athletic Department and Health Science Department are seeking two Regular Part Time (RPT) Assistant Athletic Trainers for the 2018-2019 academic year. Workload is dependent on student enrollment and funding. Terms and conditions of employment are under Article 44 (Regular Part-Time Faculty), of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF) Collective Bargaining Agreement (http://www.apscuf.org/contracts/APSCUFfacultyCBA2015-18.pdf). Per Article 44, this position may be renewed annually.

Full consideration will be given to applicants who submit all materials by December 1, 2017.

Medical care responsibilities will be assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting the student athletes via prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and documentation of athletic injuries. RPT Athletic Trainers will be responsible for onsite medical care, maintenance of the athletic training facilities, serving as preceptors within the CAATE-approved athletic training program, along with other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Travel with assigned sports teams may be required (as determined by the Head Athletic Trainer).

Ability to work an average of 21 hours per week including early mornings, nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed. Ability to perform moderate physical activity. Basic computer skills plus strong interpersonal communication skills are required.

Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • BOC Certification Required; PA Athletic Training License or eligible required.
  • Master’s Degree required. Terminal degree is required for appointment as Assistant Professor, without the terminal degree candidate will be appointed as Instructor.
  • Two years professional experience required; collegiate experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration and successfully complete the interview process.

Background Clearances

In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Checks.

Appointment is provisional for a single 90 day period provided the “Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form” and verification of your application for the three background checks are returned to Deana Hill, Associate VP for Human Resources.

Annual Security Report (Clery Act)

The Lock Haven University’s Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report are now available on-line or in paper form by request. Federal law requires these reports to contain policy statements, crime and fire safety statistics for the university. The policy statements address the university’s policies, procedures, and programs concerning safety and security, i.e. policies for responding to emergency situations, fire safety procedures and statistics, and sexual offenses, etc. Three years’ worth of statistics is included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in on-campus buildings, or off-campus sites property owned or controlled by the university and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to the campus.
